Why We Invested in InstaSwitch

Excited to Announce Our Investment in InstaSwitch!

We are thrilled to share our investment in InstaSwitch! We led their pre-seed round and invested in their seed round led by Chicago Ventures.

5.4 million U.S. small businesses try to switch banks every year. Most never finish. The story goes something like this. A business owner gets a great new offer from a bank to open a business bank account and they decide to switch. The account opens. Then the business owner realizes they have to update payroll in Gusto, invoicing in QuickBooks, payments in Stripe, and 30+ other tools, each with its own login and MFA. It sounds daunting and time consuming (which it is) so they say forget it and give up. The account sits unfunded, and the primary relationship never starts, resulting in banks losing out on billions of dollars in revenue.

That’s where InstaSwitch comes in. InstaSwitch is the missing link between account creation and account adoption. It embeds in a bank or fintech's onboarding flow and automatically moves a business's income, payroll, spend, vendors, and clients to the new account in a single session. Income, payroll, and spend each update in under 30 seconds.

Switching requires sensitive, authenticated writes inside third-party portals like Stripe, Gusto, Square, and QuickBooks. InstaSwitch built a hybrid engine where agents handle navigation and judgment, and deterministic code handles the actual writes. No LLM ever touches an account or routing number. It's one of the few places we've seen agentic AI doing real authenticated work in production.

Early customers are seeing it pay off. Arc reports activated accounts carrying 13.1x higher operating balances than their overall average. Lettuce has migrated thousands of accounts with completion rates above 80%.

Daniel West saw this problem up close at Unit, where he watched fintechs build beautiful onboarding flows and then struggle to convert opened accounts into active ones. Daniel partnered up with David Roberts, who brings the engineering chops from his time at Braintree to execute reliably across hundreds of third-party portals.

Great to continue backing Daniel, David, and the team on their $4.7M seed led by our friends at Chicago Ventures, alongside 8-Bit Capital, and Panache Ventures.
